NEW AWARD : ARTIST OF THE YEAR
Each year since 2004, the Club has awarded a trophy to the "Most Improved Artist". The Maureen Green award (see below) has now been replaced with the Hilary Blakey award for Artist of the Year, and the first artist to receive it will be announced early in 2017. Hilary sadly passed away in January 2016 and the award is in her honour - she was a creative and generous member of the Art Club, as well as a personal friend and neighbour of Maggie's for over 30 years.
"MOST IMPROVED ARTIST" AWARD
Past winners of the award have been :
The club held a very successful evening social at the Artist's Rifles Club on the National Rifle Association site at Bisley, during December 2016. Around 45 club members and guests attended. A splendid Christmas dinner was provided by the Artist's club, followed by entertainment from a local singer, who managed to get most members dancing, until the evening ended. In addition a local amateur magician was busy (successfully) practicing his tricks around the dinner tables, and even in the club bar. Various prizes were handed out and presentations made, including a thank you to Maggie Read for her work during the year (see pictures immediately below). An excellent evening on our third visit to the Artists Rifles club-house. The other pictures below are from the 2016 social evening.
"PUBLIC VOTE for FAVOURITE PICTURE" AWARD
Starting in 2013, the Club asks visitors to our Annual Exhibition to nominate their favourite picture in the exhibition. The winner of the award is announced by Maggie Read at the annual social.
